My Father, Bob Ida built and ran the Hemi-Healy back in the late 60's on the east coast. We just found what we believe to be the car. I just bought it and we are going to restore it back to this look together. Pretty excited about it, hope you like it.

    wow....now there's a sleeper. Nobody would EVER guess that it's not a dead-stock 100-6 A-H.

That thing was wild, must've been a long ass belt with that Roto-Faze intake.

I had a 1960 with a SBC and 4 speed, it was quick I cannot imagine what this beast was like. Hope it turns out to be the car you believe it to be. Good luck with the restoration.

Not to be an a$$hole but isn't it Healey?

Yeah, the Roto-Faze intake is crazy! love how tall it is compared to the roof height.

I have one in my shop, just sat there waiting to be attended to. What I want to do is build a wild drag car like the Hemi Healey, but common sense tells me it would not be too practical for where I live.

I've had four or five big Healeys, and put a Chev V8 in every one of them and of course converted them to 12V (on the early ones) neg ground. They are indeed rockets, aluminum center section, steel fenders. History of Shelby will tell you that this combo was his original intention, but neither of the major players wanted to play ball, so he schmoozed AC and Ford and the rest is history, or should I say legendary?

Had a 100 with a Hi Po 289 which would surprise most muscle cars. can't imagine squeezing in a Hemi.

Here is another shot of the Hemi-Healy at Englishtown in the late 60's. The Roto-Faze Intake on the 354 made it crazy looking. I have a video to post of this car making a pass. i'll find it and post it soon.

Diggin' those shorty exhaust pipes,too...that thing had to be a real flamethrower, probably warmed up the strip for those massive slicks! What a cool car.

Did the car ever run at Dover Drag Strip?

It sure looks like one I used to see there on Sunday's.

Best of luck with the project. Jimbo

  21. That thing was just evil!! I have a Healey replica with a 383 stroker, Brodix, and dual quads. It is a super street car but the loud pedal turns it into a beast. I love it.

Jimbo, he may have run at Dover, but Englishtown was his home track. Honeyman he said it used to make holes in the pavement when he would crack the throttle!

Very nice Mr Ida. Finding your Dads old car, that's just great.
Hopefully lots of info and photos to come?
Its nice when you get that personal connection on something like this. Really adds to the build and history.
Hopefully see you using that Car as it was intended.
    Best of luck

We are currently looking for parts for the project as we just found the car and picked it up. We haven't even unloaded it from the trailer yet but are excited to start the search for things like the Roto-Faze Intake manifold, a 354 block, 392 heads, magnesium Americans for the rea. The front wheels are still on the car. The closest we thought we would ever get to keeping the car going was using it as T shirt art!

Very exciting! We need pics. Suddenly my Ford-Healey seems so inadequate. And sign me up for one of those T-shirts.

Unless this intake is two pieces, its not going to fit on a 354 block with 392 heads.
