Editorials Aren’t For Sale

It all started a long time ago actually…

I was 15 years old when my old man bought me a ’55 Chevy coupe with a 4-speed and a pretty nasty small block. You know the goods – white pearl paint, straight axle, 5-spokes, slicks, and open headers. I’d wait for my folks to go off to work and then I’d take it out on the farm road not far from the house just to hear the cam come on and practice my power shifts.

The guy that owned the car before us had fumbled around a bit with it and had the word “Jesus” etched into the back glass. As I was smashing gears and burning down that long desert highway, I’d occassionally look out the rear view mirror to check for cops, road kill, or any other pests. Something about that etched reference to sin left its mark on me… Hot Rodding is a religion.

The Jalopy Journal was formed just a few years later to spread the gospel of traditional Hot Rods and Kustoms to hoodlums worldwide… We wanted to be the voice of the working man, a tool in the toolbox of the guy that does it himself, and a place where citizen journalists could show the “big-time” media a thing or two. We haven’t done it all yet, but we aim to in time…

The Jalopy Journal is part of the Atomic Network of communities where the editorials are not for sale.
