What’s happening Hambers? I just moved to Oklahoma and was wondering if there was a big hot rod scene near OKC. I did a car show last weekend and there weren’t many old school hot rods. There were some high end builds, lots of billet, and some muscle cars. But I not a lot of traditional stuff. I read something about a shop a few hours away in Sand Springs, but I was hoping to find some crews a little closer.
As we speak... About 3 hours Northeast of you just outside of Bartlesville. Lots of traditional hot rods. Best of luck with everything. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/on-the-road-to-the-roc-2022-in-a-banger.1275298/unread https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-gathering-at-the-roc-is-nuts.1275655/unread

You get in that part of the country you have to expect to rack up some miles going to the "Good" events. You learn that guys in Oklahoma and Texas talk in hours to somewhere rather than miles too. Dallas is 3-1/2 hours south on I 35.
Welcome to God’s country. I’m about 30 minutes north of you in Mustang. Come by the shop. Anytime the doors are up, we’re out there.
Thanks guys. I’ve been following the Gathering at the Roc deal. I guess I’ll have to be ready for next year. And Roothawg, I may have stop by.
Oklahoma.... reminds me of the old joke from years ago....... "Did you hear they put up 12 foot tall fence around Oklahoma? Seriously? Yeah kansas wanted a drive thru zoo" There were others, but not as nice. .
The Dallas-Fort Worth area Still has some good events. Even in the 70's when I lived in McGregor I didn't go to Dallas just to be going to Dallas. We did drive from Waco/McGregor to the DFW area for one day events quite often just as we took off and drove to to Houston for one day events or Austin. The whole post was as you well know, if you want to go to good car events in Oklahoma or Texas expect to have to drive a couple of hundred miles quite often. Remembering that back in the 70's my wife's cousin drove 110 miles one way to the closest place to buy beer in the dry county days. That was to some little market across a county line that had a beer cooler that would hold the contents of a 40 ft shipping container's worth of beer and then some.
I am an hour and a half east of okc on I40. I live in Henryetta, Ok. Look me up if you ever get out this way. There are some traditional guys in Ok. We all just live 1-2 hrs away from each other. I’ve been discussing org organizing some type of event where we can all get together more.
Welcome to Oklahoma! I’m also not far from you up in Guthrie. As far as traditional stuff, not as big of a scene as some places, but there are still several of us.
The Jalopy Journal and the HAMB were both born in Norman, Oklahoma. The scene there is certainly small... but the people within are special people. Be patient. You will find them.
