Welcome back for Part 2 of the recently unearthed 8mm drag footage- Another 10+minutes of vintage racing celluloid goodness. Â*It's more of the same fare with diggers, rail jobs, traditional roadster...

It's nice to see the gold dome bank, an icon of OKC, just as it was being finished. I drive by it almost every day. That 'hood, and the 'hood where the strip was, has changed ALOT!!! The grandstands in the background at the beginning, with the attached dirt track, has been torn down. The city tried to tear down the gold dome because the bank moved out. It was purchased by a private trust and it thriving again. Sometimes I hate OKC for that reason. Tell you friend thanks for the films.

Great shots !! The Gold Dome building was started in 1958, so it must be 1958 or 1959. The NHRA Nationals were held at that Oklahoma City track in 1957. It's a real shame they shut it down.

NOTE: The 1957 & 1958 Nats were both held in OKC ... and the 1959 Nats were held in Detroit.

Great shots of Chrisman-Cannons Hustler 1, still had Potvin blower setup. Emory Cook in the Cook-Bedwell car, giving trophy girl a kiss, also shots of the Speed Sport sidewinder. A real look back in time, thanks for posting it

I have a question .What's the deal with the dragster with the huge fan in the rear . Was it used to cool the motor or propell the car?
