"Extremes" annoy the shit out of me. Find something cool, realize that "coolness", and you can bet your ass that it won't be long before someone takes that idea and perversely tweeks it to the extreme. A great case study for this theory is the h...

To read the rest of this blog entry from The Jalopy Journal, click here.
Great looking car. I've saved a few photos of it for inspiration and ideas on my own Roadster build. Thanks, McFly! Malcolm
that look will never go away, it will always return to basics, the original rod. Its because that was the most exciting time for a rodder when his car was first on the road, that first day out and free. I can still recall mine, and that day! Crappy lookin stock A 2dr. with an unusual engine [56 chevy V8]. 39 trans A rearend, hydraulics, big n little ww,s and dual A bone mufflers! real fake out, even sounded like an A bone! However we would accept newer improvements, such as alternators, radials, discs, electronic dist.,etc because they are just better, we already had experience with the other stuff.
I agree with the gauge and alternator deal, but man, what a fine car! McFly you done good! I fricken love that wood floor like that!
that car is very cool. it would have been cool 50 years ago, and will still be cool 50 years from now. I have no problems with alternators, and with the price of a flathead rebuild, an old style set of modern gauges don't sound like such a bad idea.
Awesome little roadster for sure!!! I definitely agree with extremes. I would rather blend in with the history of hot rodding rather then try to reinvent the wheel. I have never been one to really put much into don't do that because everyone else does. There is a reason every builds the tried and true '29 Roadster on '32 Rails and that's because it's timeless and true to the history. There will always be ways to separate yourself form the masses by just building a clean and well built version of a combination that my be commonplace. If it has character and is well proportioned then you can bet that your car will hold it own.
Wow! I'm honored to be even noticed. Thanks for the kind words. I've got a freshly rebuilt generator sitting on my work bench. I guess I'm just lazy. ha ha.
Very simple and I like the wiring. Alternators I like for the dependability and its harder than ever now to get good rebuilt gen's. I say if your just local driving the gen is fine but people that take the 1000 mile jaunt will have problems finding a gen if they do have a failure. Bottom line is I would love to have this one in my collection.
Modern gauges in old style cases are fine by me, but I do like generators. A well setup generator works fine and in a car like this you don't NEED a lot of juice as you don't have much stuff using it up! My first car was a first year Mustang with a 260 and a generator and I drove that thing for a many years without any problems. I replaced the generator brushes once. regards, DJ
You cannot imagine how proud I am to see my sons hard work be acknowleged by so many of you. Thanks for the kind words and encouragment. Nice work Jared If you don't drive it whats the point!!!
Can't go wrong with this look. And, while I didn't build my roadster, McFly's is/was a definite inspiration for achieving that timeless look. New work, buddy!
