Hows that for a catchy thread title? A month and a half ago I went to look at a local guys '39 Standard Coupe..........the car was fairly decent but had way too much Street Rod to it for my taste. That got the wheels spinning and I located another '39 on E bay. I was pretty scared of buying sight unseen especially from a non HAMBer....................I put a post up looking for help in New Jersy, a few guys responded and Repoman took time out to give the car the once over and E mail me lots of pics. When I saw the pics I nearly lost it........this thing is like a time warp..........I'm always envious of some of you guys and your finds....................Muttley has finally scored. The body is as solid as they come, the interior is straight out of the '50's and hasnt been touched since then. It's got an old SBC from an early 'Vette (havent run the numbers so I'm not sure if its a 283 or 327) hooked to a '39 trans/Banjo. It's been nosed/decked and the gas filler relocated to the trunk........other than that the body is stock. Other than wheels, wide whites a tune up and a good cleaning it will be left alone for the most part. I am planning to replace the four barrel with a Tri Power or maybe a 6x2, get rid of the after market headlight thingys and DRIVE it. A couple of friends just showed up to check the car out........keep your shirt on, I'll post some more pics in a little while.
...oh, and thumbs up to Repoman for not giving you the ole "nah, its junk, pass on it" then buying it himself. It would have been reeeeal hard for me not to...
Dude, that is awesome! That thing looks clean as hell, and the untouched OG interior is too bad-ass. Get that six-deuce on it and let me know if you ever want to mess it up with some stripes.
Wow!! that is one sweet car dude . whats your plans? Not that it's not great the way it sits right now . Buzz Bomb
That's what I'm saying... I feel like I should be busting his balls about getting a car he really doesn't deserve or how the rainbow sticker will look real good on the back... I just don't know where to start...
