Personally I think they are way over restored but I still like them. In the 60’s there were a lot of water pipe in cooling systems and any clamp you could find. Army-Navy stores were your go-to suppliers and a lot was pretty crude by today’s standards but it worked and some backyard guys gave the more “affluent” suckin hind ..... well you know.
I wish I would have known about this earlier, I would have officially nominated Jim Lindsley's Cal-Loui Special in this class. Twin engine Hemi, first roadster over 200 MPH at Bonneville. Details and more info on this history setting car on my thread about the Lindsley's racing history. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...akes-pioneer-family-photo-collection.1188425/
Salt Circus, Built by George Campbell in the 80's GMC powered, record holder (until recently) and because we now are the care takers....
A real privilege to be selected for this event. Guess the roadster can't be considered over-restored but a few years back we had to cut out and replace the floors and about the bottom three inches of the tub - the Bonneville salt had eaten it away. The 232 roadster is certainly no museum piece and is driven and raced hard whenever the opportunity arises - frustrating that I won't make Bonneville this year as I'm stuck in England and we're not allowed to enter America yet. Looking forward to seeing lots of photos from Speed Week on here. Not sure if any of the other owners are on the HAMB but like I said, just glad to be a part of this and raise a few bucks for a good cause. Regards Jon.
