    Spent a few hours at work mocking this up. I have no intent on running this, but it might make enough interest to cast one or two intakes!

    Checking In, Major Leak Checked rear main .0015, drain pipe clear. New pan gaskets. Still heavy leak. Did compression check 1-120 2-0 4-120 3-120. Should have done a Leak down test before I took the head off.
    Back to square one. Rings looked good. I guess check cylinders and re ring and valves. Check all lower end
    let the fun begin..:)

    Gday folks, Today I did a 6 hr 300 odd mile round trip to drop off the last of a load of AA truck parts which is being relayed to Alice Springs - in the center of Aus - 1500 miles from here. In exchange I'll get some A model bits back. Some rough roadster parts & some wheels. Looking forward to seeing them, its taken some mucking around & humbugging some folks but it won't owe me all that much & helps the old fella out. Win win I hope.
    I have also started again to get my A RPU progressed, I got talked into putting it into a beach race over here mid May. It's the kind of motorvation I need to get it going....
    Here's the drawn out build thread.

  21. it’s not a Y motor, it’s a Model A motor, everything is normal Model A , just a small bore. I believe they were built so you paid less road tax. This one is probably out of a truck, it has the AA bellhousing, how it got here to Switzerland, I don’t know, possibly it was in a local/ homebuilt tractor. I got from a farmer, he said he bought it about ten years ago, and has since been sitting in the hayshed.

    Wow, I didn't know they existed! What carb do they use?

  23. Not sure, there was no carb on the motor when I got it, it does have a Bosch distributor, but it’s needs a complete rebuild, the front pulley is also cast iron and smaller than the std model A
    The Ford garage website has quite a lot of info on them

    Good looking mag drive. Who made it?

  26. Pity the head is smashed - that’s a factory high compression head.

  27. Most likely a Charlie Yapp / Secrets of Speed timing cover. I believe they use a VW Distributor or Magneto.

    All you need is a donor head, a little patience... and a lot of Lock-n-Stich pins!

    I'm about ready to pull the trigger on my engine build, probably Burtz + Serr Miller.

    What do you all recommend for driveline? If I go T5, do I try to keep stock A axles and try to marry those to something like a Halibrand 101? Do you recommend open or closed? What's everyone running?

    Sorry the only thing I have to contribute is questions, but I'm thankful for any insight this group can offer.
