There's probably a few guidelines in what can be driven on the street written due to this great looker but thinking about the front end bouncing up and turning right or left might be dicey to say the least...at least it's a V8...actually there is a 409 hiding behind that 'T' Shell...

Anybody know the story?

...This is a pretty interesting Mix of Hotrod/Custom with high quality execution...captured by Hamber @HEMI32 in a thread at link below...I tried to find some vintage history on it but came up dry and perhaps Hemi will have some captures back in it's heyday as I would love to see it with vintage shoes and b & w...It is or was owned by Dave Garibaldi...

If I can find a copy of Car Craft Magazine December 1953 for less than $35 I'll let you know what it says!

Apparently that's a significant issue since it seems to be the first issue as CAR CRAFT. I bet the owner/builder, Harvey Bott, was pretty happy about that.

Rooting about, as I do, apparently that car is called The San Antonio Rose and @HJ BOTT was on the HAMB in 2009. Apparently he is still alive and active in the art world.

Personally, despite the loach like face, I appreciate this car's craftsmanship and creativity. I enjoy this thread because it brings up a lot of old builds from the early days that did or didn't fit the mold then and seem to blow people's traditional minds today.

I'm also intimately familiar with the stance and proportioning issues one hits with track/streamliner noses on a hot rod build.

 

@patmanta thanks for connecting all those dots...to me all vintage Hotrods are Functional Art some are wild, some are mild...visually it's all over the map...

It's interesting that this was a true Mechanical Artists vision and even done in an off the straight and narrow vision seemingly deliberate...Very relatable to the theme of the thread.

In no way am I disputing workmanship or vision...I may suggest but never tell a person what to do.

As an professed Artist myself I actually generally keep my opinions to myself about my thoughts...and despite my analogies I still see a pretty interesting Hotrod...and I suppose he still has it...wow how cool is that...AND a Hamber and still here...awesome...may good health be still with Him.

As Artist's we are always judged...mainly silently other times more openly...and we have to anticipate reactions...good and not so...
