It's almost Bonneville time...

That's right boys and girls- A mere 18 days till we are officially in Speed Week (Aug. 10 -16) for the SCTA's Bonneville Nationals in Wendover, Utah. I say this every year...

If anybody can watch that video without getting a big old grin on their face, something is very wrong with them.

I wish I was going too...its been 3 years since I got my last salt fix.

 

We are looking at the HAMBBQ on the first Saturday night at the new museum site across from CARQUEST. Will also try and do the raffle that got rained out last year.

 

It'll be my first time on the salt... I'm not getting much work done these days... sleeping is becoming a problem...

Damn, I need to quit looking at these Bonneville threads!
I'm not planning on going this year --- registered for the Rodder's Journal Revival (in Baltimore) in September instead.

I must admit it's quite tempting to cancel that trip and go to Bonneville Speed Week!

Goosebumps. I'll miss Bonneville this year, but fully intend on christening the newly painted and rebuilt roadster on the Salt next summer. There's just something unexplainable about that place.

I love going to Bonneville ... Just wish I would have started going sooner. Back in the 70s me and my buds used to drive a lot to out of state car events, no idea why we never thought of Bonneville.

I will say Im looking a little more forward to it this year though because of this thread I started. Talk about a great bunch of people stepping up!!!

I know its a wheel short of a roadster. But if you need a reason to go to Bonneville that view is IT right there.

 

New engine went into the truck this last weekend! Fired it and I'm ready! We'll be there first light waiting in line at lands end Thurs.



Can't wait!

I enjoy brushing my teeth at Lands End and putting on my sunscreen in the cool of the morning..............As much as Duvall likes the smell of napalm in the morning! Say a prayer for the Ranger, it has 260K on it and has prob hit more HAMB/hotrod events that most hotrods here!

 

First time, I'll be there Saturday AM. Got a room thru Thursday. I’ll be a spectator.

 

I was there 4 times in the 60's , a pretty lo key event compared to now days with 500 plus racers

Just standing on the salt is a moving deal and the racers are like icing on the cake

To me the salt is like a big magnet that keeps pulling you back for more

This will be my third year, first with a bunch of my best-bud club brothers which is gonna make it that much cooler. I feel like a 10 year old a week before Christmas.
