Default 6 Days, 5 Classes, 5 Records...

I'm like a junky looking for a score. Manic. I've got some place I have to be in 30 minutes and don't have a post for today nor any idea for one. Had I remembered my appointment last night, I could have written up something so eloquent... so professi...

What a champion effort to get that many records in one meet.

Gotta love GoPro footage so crisp and sharp with crystal clear sound. That Ardun, what beautiful music. It reminds me of seeing & hearing a blown Ardun on the Dyno. Also reminds me of the Ferguson's Ardun powered streamliner run 300+ mph @ Bonneville at full song.

That's awesome. That Ford just looks so benign sitting there and then 5 records in 5 different classes. Sweet

We did close to the same thing in '88 with the Swamp Rat 33 'liner. Gas & Fuel 2 Ardun records, 2 flathead records, PLUS 2 drivers, Don Garlits & Don Kehr, into the 200 Club.

Rich Venza -

As the saying goes, "Pics or it didn't happen!" ...

Swamp Rat #33 'liner @ Speed Week '88:

Ace HRM photog Eric Rickman passes some words of wisdom onto Rich Venza (black Isky hat) while Garlits
waits patiently in the drivers seat. Rod Kempkis holds the canopy open and listens in on the conversation.

Last minute instructions before pushing off.

NOTE: Garlits got into the prestigious Bonneville 200 MPH Club with a two-way average speed of 217.947 MPH (in XF/GS trim) ... as did Don Kehr with a 213.438 MPH average (in XF/FS trim).

Hard to believe those photos were taken almost 25 years and 30 pounds ago.
Thanks for posting these Todd.

Rich,

I remember those runs in '88. At the salt the first timing light is 2 1/4 miles from the start line. Big Daddy ran to the first light, 9 times further than he normally would go, and said "What do I do now?"
