Default Shoebox Fords- "Continental Kit"

What is the story on - "Continental Kits" for Shoebox Fords?

* I don't see many of them
* Were they orig.options or are they custom /fabricated to fit from other cars?

*** Who sells them and what have you done-show pics

There needs to be a D.A.R.E program for continental kits gone wrong.

Cars that never need to be within 5 feet of a conti kit:

'49-'51 Merc
'49-'51 Ford
'55-'57 Chevy

And thats just a start!

The Barris Shop built this one... with extended quarters... they really are needed when you want to use a Conetinental Kit.

My 50 Crestliner has one, believe to be Ford option. Have to run air shocks to use rear view mirror. I have often thought about taking it off. Probably will when and if it gets new paint.

O.K. I'll offer one up. I do agree with Rikster, these do look a lot better with extended quarters. This was my intention whenever I put this one on. But other projects got in the way and since this is the only one running and driving; I haven't done anything yet. I do like the Barris car.
Thanks for posting it Rikster.

Lighten up, fellas, he's in Pennsylvania - can't help it. My dad and uncles in Northeast Ohio all thought continental kits were awesome on some cars, including shoebox Fords. It's an Eastern thing; you wouldn't understand.
