Good looking 2dr. For some reason, 1954 Oldses are scarce; not a lot seem to have survived.
You mentioned that you'd be using Diamondbacks. I've had excellent results with that brand; far superior to Coker's.
2" looks like late '50s to me, and I think is preferable to the 4" whitewalls which look earlier.
I'm 83. Joined the HAMB in 2001. I have more than 10.000 posts on this board, but can't think of a single interesting story.
If I had my '36 3W back, I'd have it just as it was when I sold it several years ago: low rake, whitewalls, no skirts. Just like the last picture...
Don't do it. The few cars built that way looked crappy then, and they look crappy now.
When I was a teenager ('50s) I decided that a T roadster was the ultimate hot rod, especially if it had the flavor of a track roadster. Eventually...
I absolutely agree with you. My engine compartment looks decent, but the car only looks right with the panels closed.
Ran this 3-71 on the 1/8 x 1/2 flattie in my '36: [ATTACH]
Drove my '56 to Austin in 2010.[ATTACH]
Noted, and my comment correctly recognized those dimensions. What's your point?
Pretty sure that the Merc's extra wheelbase is all in the front clip. The Ford fenders and hood would be too short for the Merc by 2.5".
There's a thread on here about Lee plastic taillight lenses, originally made in the '50s but reissued much later. They made replacement lenses for...
Caption also says the bottle will fill the engine compartment with carbon monoxide. Right?
I did what you're planning. Bought a '36 3W with a 265, replaced the SBC with a blown flattie (French block with a GMC 3-71; all new parts). It...
That's definitely the car, thanks for identifying it. I, too, wonder what's become of it, and if it has ever been completed.
I'm sorry that this thread stalled almost seven years ago. How about an update? Is the car painted and finished? The car is sensational,...
I'm sure I found this picture here on the HAMB, but I don't remember any of the details. I love this thing -- I think its proportions are just...
I've always liked the Frazer grille. I'm glad you're retaining it.
I was very proud of how my '56 (not a '55, although I used a '55 grille and side trim) looked, and I'm flattered that you're cloning it. Of course...
I misspoke when I said I put a 4-speed behind the flattie in my '36. It was in fact a T5 5-speed OD, and it was by far the best performance...
I mentioned previously that my '36 had a taildragger phase. Here's how it looked during that period: [ATTACH] DRD57 photo [ATTACH] [ATTACH] I...
I had an extremely similar '36 some years ago -- stock body, black, 265 SBC. I made a few "corrections" to it over a 5 or 6-year period. Dropped...
Thanks, Jimmy Six. I'm a little surprised by these numbers, because I certainly see more Crown Vics (with or without glass) than 4-door Vics. It...
Thank you. I was quite proud of how it turned out. I sold it to a guy in Australia, who refurbished it with new paint and interior. He didn't...
Not quite the color you posted, but a similar pale metallic green that is very nice in the flesh. It's a Nissan Altima color called Mystic...
Those '56 4-door Victorias are good looking cars, but they are RARE! I've never seen production figures, but I can't imagine that they made very...
Note that this is a 2-door tub. I think that Ford only made this model in '30-'31; in all other years Ford tubs were 4-doors.
You are correct regarding '49-'51. As others have pointed out, '52-'54 are not in the same category.
That's a little crude, but it sure is fun!
