This is an Original Southern California Custom , purchased new by Gerry Huth (the muffler Huth) . Delivered in 1939 , Huth had the top chopped when it was less than 2 weeks old . Driven and used for years in Cali. , it changed hands several times , was owned by a Charlie Mars then ended up with its last owner , Carl Morton . Carl bought and owned Valley Customs , purchased from Clayton Jensen in about 1961 . The car is still titled in Carl's name at the Valley Customs address .
A friend has owned the car for several years and is just finishing a complete rebuild . Carl ran the car with a Y block Ford motor , the current owner is returning it to the early '40's era . The Flathead is fresh with a Weiand 2 x 2 , Lincoln dual ignition , headers and chrome heads . The exhaust is routed through the trunk , due to the lowness of the car , just as it was in 1940 . Desoto bumpers , '41 Stude tail lights , molded fenders with skirts and a Columbia rear end . Thought it was worth posting in its current state , more to follow , should be killer when it's finished........ Z.D.

Killer when it's done? Jeez!!! It's killer now! Will be absolutely stunning when it's done.
(well, I guess "kill" is higher up the scale than "stun") |

WOW... very nice.
Do you know if there are any old photos of this car, how it used to look in the 40's and 50's? Would be nice to see those as well. I love the color, and all the period details. Looking forward to see it finished. |

It was done with axles and springs . Deep drop in front with de-arched spring , rear has de-arched spring with a C notch in the frame for the rear to clear..............Z.D.
