So it’s been a while since I posted any pictures so I thought I’d give you all an update on my 1927 Cossin/Ford roadster. First a little background. I have built a few cars from parts but always wanted to build one from scratch. I had access to a 27 roadster to take measurements from so that’s what I decided to build. The car started out as 5 sheets of 18ga. for the body and 2 sheets of 10 ga. For the frame. Everything was built in shop including the Duvall windshield , the air cleaner and the exhaust manifolds as well as the 32 frame and 32 grille shell (thanks to a loner from good friend Jamie Johnson owner of Hotrod Haven). The model a axle was also dropped and drilled in shop thanks to a post by Titus! I’m trying to decide whether to paint it or leave it bare metal for a while. If I paint it it will probably be gloss black. So please let me know what you think. If you picked another color please tell me which one! (by the way I know it would be better with a flattie but I just can’t afford it but at least it's a ford.!) Hopefully a link to the build will show up here (I’m not too computer savy). Thanks for lookin’ Eddie Tech sorta: More pictures of 27 Ford scratch build
If you build that ,You don't need to be computer Savy! Very nice ,You have massive talent, thanks for the photos
That's what I used to think! Don't sell yourself short! Thanks everyone for all the compliments. Eddie
Wowee! I didn't realize you had completed it this far all ready! Unbelievable! And I vote bare metal 'cause you deserve to show off what you made!
Eddie!!!!!! Awesome post as always man. Let's freak em out and paint it some other color! Go crazy with it you super talented mofo!
Thank you all for the compliments! You guy's rock. I'm leaning towards keeping it bare for a while to show the metal work (it's hard to hide anything in bare metal). Then painting it over the winter while building another one! Eddie
Thanks for all the replies! I've decided to keep it in bare metal for a while and am leaning towards gloss black! Eddie
If it is perfectly straight, gloss Black always looks killer. Anything dark, like dark Maroon or dark Brown, would be good. Add some subtle stripes to finish it off.
I really like the dark maroon with off white firewall on Model A's but wasn't sure about this one. The body is very straight so it should be fine. Thanks for the input! Eddie
Check out the new issue of "Ol skool rodz" ! I guess I'll keep it in bare metal for a while. I'm still deciding what color a it should be later on so you're opinions are welcome and very much appreciated! Thanks again, Eddie
Thanks Eric! I was suprised. To see it was on the cover as well as the two page article. Thanks for all your help! Eddie
It is nice work, but imo black will show the quality of the work better than bare metal. Seems that some of the bare metal cars shown recently were a bit of a gimmick and I'd guess that most have paint by now. I understand that some are using WD-40 to clean and protect the bare metal. Not so good if you ever want to paint it. Along those same lines, ever come home late, car soaking wet from the rain? Most cars, you can put em away wet and not much worry. Not so with a bare metal car. Bare metal is on overdone gimmick and I'll bet that none of the voters for bare metal are running bare metal....
Thanks for the input! I don't like fads myself. I kept it in bare metal to show my metal work. Hard to hide things in bare metal, if it was painted before you wouldn't be able to see the work (bondo can hide a lot). Now that that's done it will be painted. I agree about the guys spaying wd-40 on their cars. I don't think you'll ever get it all off. Eddie
Just read the article last night, beautiful car and amazing skills!!!! Have you thought about a dark green?
Thank you very much for reading the article and the compliment! I'm not much for green. But we are thinking of painting the 1930 pontiac roadster pickup dark green. It's on my website if your interested in checking it out. Eddie
