Instead of coming for the chop I replaced the pump in my well today (okay I watched the guy who took my money do the work). Not quite how I wanted to spend the day, but when we got up this morning there wasn't even enough water to flush.

Should be there by 11:00 Sunday. I hope there is still a little work left so I can help!

What are your plans for the back window? I want to chop my 54, but can't decide on how to handle that.

first off I think Justin is deffinately worthy of this chop, he's a cool young man

and working with Oldbeat and KMember was a pleasure,

    real, good people.

    .....................

We are using a '51 small rear window.

right off the decision was made to keep the B pillars vertical and after laying out the four inch chop decided three would look better

the roof was cut free, the three inches removed and the lid was set back on

we separated the rear quarter window's upper frame from the roof and slid it and the post and drip rail back to match the still attached door post

and set the roof back on, stepped back again to check the look and saw that maybe a sloped cut might look good, so we took another half inch out of the B pillars

    that looked better

we layed the small rear glass from a donor top forward, that gave it a nice smooth line that works well with the rear quarter glass

by last night after about ten or twelve hours of work we had one side pretty much sewed up with a good start at the other.

I saw lots of camera action going on, hopfully someone will post some of the early work here.

I will post more pictures this evening, it's really going to be a nice chop,

a little more than subtle but not radicle.

pretty damn good for a bunch of hacks if I do say so!

    60's Style,
I was there on Saturday for a few hours. I think I met just about everyone else from the hamb but you were too busy working the whole time. [IMG] You guys looked like pros working on the chop especially with crowd there the whole time!

Car-wise this year was better than last year I think. Still a few abortions there but the '28 phaeton with the cadillac flathead was just about perfect as it gets and the owner was a cool guy too. On the kustom front the '49 chopped cad convertible was insane. A few others that stood out too...I wish I would have had my camera.

Anyway, it was good to meet everyone there! Good motivation for me. Maybe next time I will actually have my truck with me. [IMG] back to the garage!

What a blast, I didn't help with the chop, it would have taken 10 times as long to finish! Beetle, you and Cindy are the coolest, thanks for letting me go for a rip in the merc. K-member, you have the funniest god-damn stories I have ever heard. Next year I'm staying awake for the fireside Canadian bashing. Paul, didn't want to waste your time, but you are a machine, can't believe you guys pulled that off! Amazing weekend, can't wait till next year! [IMG]
