Customs My new daily driver / 60 Chevrolet 4dr Impala

My daughters everyday is a 60 4dr Bel Air sedan. Has more of the roof line and rear window that you are looking for but with out the hardtop look. Also has those little quarter windows as well.
You might be able to use that roof as a starting point.
I do love the flat tops though. Have fun, they are geat drivers.

I hate 4 doors! That said, I like the original flatop-back glass a lot better than the 60-ford-type glass in the drawing. I actually believe your 60 could be a very nice looking car with a simple drop and repaint. I really doubt I'd mess with the 62 Pontiac side molding...it'd be a helluva big job with a lot of shrinking and metal work before it'd look nice.
No, I think I'd shoot for a finished product like the blue car in the photo.

That is my plan is to basically look like the blue car but with smoothies and spiders. Down
the road who knows what will end up looking like. I Like the Kaucher drawing but I also like
the stock profile. I still think the 62 Pontiac has a future in the back part of my 60. I have
plenty of time to talk myself into something else.

The engine I plan on painting everything orange except the Air Cleaner, A/C Compressor,
the alternator will be painted satin black. Hope to give it a stock look.

Its been sitting for 10 years, time flys. I'm looking forward to cruizn again.
By the time I get it rolling it maybe too cold cruizn with all of the windows
down. I may have to pretend that its a roadster and wear layers.

the Merc will be at Piston's and Paint but the Impala will not make it.
I'm hoping by Thanksgiving I'll have it on th road. Like to have some
round town trips before I venture too far....

I would advise against the drop spindles. I bought a set and they were junk. They were made of cast iron!!!. The tapers for the ball joints were wrong and you could not get them to fit tight. The iron required a lot thicker metal and this changes where the steering arms mount. The wheels would not turn near as much as they did before. The angle reduced by about half. I can't imagine trying to park the big boat with wheels that won't turn much. I sent them back.

Years ago I bought drop spindles for my 55 chevy, we had to shave some of my A Arms
down to get it so I could turn. So I knew they had a problem at one time. I've been looking
at Summit Racing and they have a lot of choices. If I was to buy them I was going to buy
Bell Tech because I thought they should have it together. They are twice as much but I
thought that they would be worth the extra money.

What kind of Spindles did you buy?

I was looking into buying those too, I wonder if they are any different then Bell tech?
I'm sure if I called then they would tell me they will work great. I just got through
posting another post on "how to lower your '60 the right way."

Here is some old pictures of my '60. this was right after I lowered it. I had just cut two
coils and lowered it about 4 inches.



After I getting it lowered my search started for a 60 Mercury grill, I think all 60's should
have the Merc grill. Removed the mirrors and some of the emblems. I ran out of money
for white walls so I bought some Pota walls and they lasted about a year.



This was my stable; my '55 Chevy (old high school car) and my Impala. My '55 went into the 90's style kustom. Gotta love the pink. LOL!!
