where is a good place to buy upholstery on line the shops here don't want to sell the material thanks

SMS will have vintage correct upholstery fabric if that is what you need. Priced accordingly. If just looking for fabric, UpholsterySupplyUSA has a good selection and good prices. They are nice folks to deal with, as is SMS.

 

I actually went to Hobby Lobby and bought most of my upholstery materials when I did my '39 Chev coupe. On previous car I went to a local fabric place and they had a huge selection of vinyl material, but they closed their doors a few years ago, so lost that resource.
Hobby Lobby didn't have the correct heavy duty thread needed, but the local sewing machine repair business did. And so did a JoAnne's Fabric place.

 

I went to a local fabric store and bought a bunch of denim. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.
