I definitely appreciate all the pics, TROG has always appeared to be a fun event.
But there was a lot of concern expressed back when the event date change was announced that this was going to cause problems with room availability and cost, congestion from being "in season" for beachgoers, etc.
So I'm asking those who made the trip this year: Did the date change have any negative effects?

yes and no... You pay more for parking, the spectators doubled in size but the venue handled it very well, It was elks weekend so lodging on cheap was very rough to find but it was the weekend after the vacation holiday so less people, more things were actually open including the boardwalk, strange seeing a crowded beach on each end of the race strip, NOTT was moved since they couldn't close down the street but it was a bigger venue and other then that mostly the same.

Some really nice cars but rust buckets are not traditional as back in the day they hadn't rusted yet so why fake it?

  10. I was there, and I'm not sure what you're saying?
I didn't see any "rust buckets".
Are you saying you see fake??

  11. Deuceman if you are talking about the two rusty cars in TWIG's pictures, both of those are survivor cars...they are rusty, because they are old. The #Five car is the Buddy Hinman roadster that he built when he was 13 in the early 50's. It was found and preserved, and got running, but not restored and made new. And he showed up, with his family...in his 80's, and raced it down the beach! The first time he'd seen the car in person in 50 years? Very emotional....and as traditional as you could dream of! I believe the other is a vintage sprint car.

    This is worth the read:

What am I looking at here? Looks like a small block Chevy with the Vintage Speed 2x2 adapter on a 4 barrel intake with a points distributor and Lincoln valve covers.

Am I correct? I dig the modern motor reliability with a solid old school look.
