This is probably the best how to do it build that I have ever seen. I love all the little things that you did. Really great work. Thank you.

Well...there is that too. You sent me the firewall patch panel. Mild Mitch donated some doors, Grimlok sent me the rear crossmember, TV worked over the front spring, Bruce Lancaster sent a 36 Ford clutch arm, Miles sent some grille bars...

I did update the Firewall post...

    Thanks again,

Fantastic skill. You could make an outstanding DVD, I sure would buy one. Thanks for sharing the build with us. It was a pleasure to view.

It's already titled as a 1932 Ford pickup. It's on an original frame, so it's registered under that frame number.

Aren't all hot rods made up of old scrap parts from various years?

    I would hope so......:D

Say, how long has this project been underway? The attention to detail looks very time comsuming.....hahaha.

Again, excellent work, something we all should strive for.:)

It's been 5 years since I started on this project...but it sat in the back corner of the shop for two of those years. When I posted the $25 frame story I had been working on it about a year. Then we had our second child and I had to help my parents a lot...so the car sat over the next two years (2005/2006). I got back on it two years ago and hope to have it running for this next year (2009)...but still in bare metal. It will be a few more years before it is painted, plated and upholstered.

This is my first time building anything like this, so I am having to make it up as I go. I know I spend way too much time thinking about the details...but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Neal, awesome work ! Lots of thought and effort went into the RPU. Questions - Did you widen the rear rims (those are wide-fives correct) ? What year rear end did you use ? Any mods to the rear axle ?

    Hey Neal,
obsession is a good thing, isn't it? And doing it yourself, yourway, makes it that much more enjoyable.
Was hoping to see you and your rpu this sat, maybe the march meet?
It is turning out beautiful, craftmanship, top notch. Have you fired it yet?

Yes, the wheels are wide 5's. The rear wheels aren't widened, but they are 16x5 1939-41 3/4-ton pickup wheels. The front wheels are 16x3.5 1937-39 V8-60.

The rear end is a 35-36 with 42-47 pickup open drive center swapped in. I also used the brakes off of the pickup rear end with 37-39 drums.

My pleasure Neal. It was a win-win for both of us.

I had mine out of the box yesterday, trying to get the last bearing number, so I can order it, and re-build me rear end..
