I liked Pat Ganahl's 32 Chevy. It was featured in Street Rodder in what I would call my formative years. I tried to find a pic online but all I could find was this little thumbnail size image.

Beautiful, How many builders can achieve this level mechanical perfection and yet have the restraint to not spoil it with excessive doodads and crappy paint?

I don't know for sure, but I was kind of thinking the same thing? I have a hunch they are an aftermarket wheel, but I don't remember them.

Yeah, they were Porsche style aftermarket wheels. I forgot about that later addition. I'll rephrase my original startement.. I liked Pat Ganahl's 32 Chevy coupe.. Until he fitted those Porsche wheels! ;)

They look like the wheels often seen on Porsche, known as Fuchs. They are very ligth and is era perfect.

For another car and another era :confused::cool:
Not for me, neither to like or criticize!

Its funny, I don't like chromed or polished wheels. But I love painted steelies with polished hub cabs, only exception is polished mag slots, but not for anything other then a FED or early sixtys full size.
I can handle chromed steelies, but I don't love them.

And the polished Fuchs is just as unappealing as fully chromed Cragar S/S. But I like torque trusts satin green or blue with polished edges.

But cragar S/S makes me hum grease lightning for the longest time.
Not a sound to be proud of :(
    But nice 32!

What's left of a '24 Overland tub on well butchered '19 Buick rails, early post-war style build, that I race as HA/Gm(odified)R(oadster).

Forgive me the "off topic" wheels & axles?

Starting into'er 10th season this year.

This is definitely a waaaay off project, but, does anyone have any interchange info on the late 20's/ early 30's Mopars. I have a very rough 29 Plymouth cowl and Im just wondering what may interchange between the Plymouths, Dodges, Chryslers, and Desotos. I can fabricate what I need, but would rather take the easy way when I can. As of right now I'd like to stay with a Mopar frame and a Double dip axle. Just fishing for off make ideas. 00N0N_4Z3hOsP3hho_600x450.jpg

I just really like the reveal in the cowl....and Im seriously thinking going the Modified route. I also think Ill be running the 6 cylinder flathead out of my 41 Desoto and a mid 50's 3spd OD. Rear end is undecided yet....

  26. image.jpg Wow, I'm late to the party again. Somehow missed this thread totally. I knew I wasn't the only one playing on the non-Ford side of the playground, but WOW there are some cool rods out there. Here's my half-assed rebuild thread on my '35 Chevy Standard Sedan. I figure it should squeeze in under the wire, since it is essentially the same as a '34 Master.

And here's a pic as it sits today.

Lee Chapel’s old Chevy modified is in the background of this pic:

Chrysler ran some race-prepped roadsters in the 1928 Grand Prix series:

Not really a hot rod, but the Durant and Star automobiles had decent power-to-weight ratios:

This ’29 Chevy ran the lakes around the same time Ak Miller and his brothers were running their ’28:

Like the pennant says, this is a Maxwell. It appears to be a 1914ish Model 25:

Great thread. I’m planning to build a Dodge Brothers or Maxwell open car in the ‘40s style at some point. Although Chevy pieces keep coming my way…
