just thought I would post some on my 33 Teraplane I'm building. There was not a whole lot to start with. Made lower patch panels by hand with plywood bucks to shape them. I chopped the top 2 inch's. IMG_20150620_182826.jpg

  8. That's a great looking body.
Hudson products are becoming more Rodder friendly lately, but I own a 28 and 29, so I'm a little biased. :D;)

I will take some pics of the wood bucks .I made and used to make panels tomorrow and post them here.

  19. nice project, I see the frame sticks out a long way behind the body, have you thought aboyt what to do with that? '32 fuel tank maybe?

  20. Nothing is to nice to cut up. The old guys used to say, "the better the sheet metal the better the rod." ;)

@33essex nice work friend. I have been contemplating building some bucks to build panels from. I vacillate as I can buy the parts already made but it would be fun to do, a feeling of accomplishment when done. You should feel exceptionally accomplished at this point.

The frame I have already cut off when I put body down over frame see first pic in thread. For fuel tank I'm useing a 17 gallon fuel cell. That will be behind rear seat. I'm boxing off that spot from inside of car so if anything happens like a leak or what ever it just stays out side of passenger compartment.

That is some really good info on how to make patch panels from scratch! Thanks for the pictures of the bucks and the finished product.

Thanks for the pictures very interesting . How did you make the beveled edge on the buck and what did use for a tool to pound into the recess ? I am thinking you made your own by grinding a piece of stock to fit in the recess. Did you use 18 ga for your patches ?

I used 20 guage theres not much difference between 18 and 20. The 20 guage takes much better to shapeing than 18 guage. What I used for shapeing was a 1 inch wide by 1/2 inch thick chunk of flat stock. I rounded one end.I also used a peice of the same flat stock that had been beat into a nice curve shape. I will have to look around for them and I will take pics. You have to slowly work into shape. As far as a bevelled edge there in not one. The pic for some reason makes it look like there is. Also the metal is screwed to the buck for shapeing to hold I place.

Also plywood bucks are not and will not live through multiple uses before new ones need to be made.

This is to 32Hudson if your not in any rush. I noticed you need patch panels for your cowl. Driver side the most. If you have not already patched. I would be willing to hammer out one for you. The bucks have one more round left in them. Cover shipping you can see for your self. I can make it have enough metal to go up to belt line The ends of panel will need to be capped off. If it works for you we can talk price on more panels. It dose take a fair amount of time to make.
