A SBC fit under this hood with twin turbos and a big intercooler. My OHC Pinto fit. My DOHC Lotus fit. The Plymouth fit both flathead and OHV. But the Dodge Bros. has to fight me every inch of the way.
Is there going to be a blister covering the valve cover. Have you picked up the headers from the coater as well?
Great looking T!!!!! Anything special in the bottom end? A crank? How fun is it going to be to stop all that HP when it gets up to speed? .
Thanks CD! The bottom end is all new with a '26-7 "EE" crank, new bearings, full race cam and a full balance job. Pistons are .080" over aluminum and Valves/seats are 302 SB Ford hardened stainless. Running a "Z" head on top with a a Mallory auto-advance dizzy, Burns intake and two special Stromberg 81s dialed down and setup by Uncle Max. I would have gone with a '28 Chev or Model A crank, but didn't have the extra $ at the time for that too...plus I don't intend to beat the heck out of it.
I can't remember who made them, Egge I think. They are flat tops with modern rings. The "Z" head is a 6:1 high comp head, so I can't run the High-dome pistons. I decided to leave the magnets on the flywheel this time to regain my hill climbing power and proper oiling of the bands and clutches. My last motor didn't have magnets and it just wouldn't climb a hill with out down shifting. On the flat level road it would haul...but I got killed on hills. With the new motor (and the magnets) she ought to bulldoze up and over hills no problem.
No oil pump on this one. The rods are drilled w/dippers, but I didn't have the the crank drilled. If I was going to spend the money to do so, it would be a heavy duty crank. I am going to install a High Volume oil line kit to get some extra oil up front so it should be fine. Bearing are Babbitt, newly poured. Engine is backed by a Chicago 3-speed aux. overdrive unit (behind the stock T 2-speed), a stock rear axle (3.63 gears) with an underslung racing chassis. My build thread is in my signature...tons of pics of my latest rebuild.
