Started on the roof right after I finished the seats nearly a year and a half ago. I have so many hours in it its stupid. Leather shrunk nearly an inch from drying out. After many hours of tooling some serious cussing getting it stretched out again and a few evenings of lacing its finally done in time for autorama.
still gotta do a leather cover for the stacks and then I'll probably never do another tooled leather project, takes way too long. thanks for the compliments
not so much patience as block headed determination. I am kinda like a pitbull on a squeaky toy with my projects
DO you realize it's unlawful to skin and tan badly tattooed bikers even if found dead by the roadside?
Even without you mentioning it I can't imagine how insane the hours must be to do something like that. It's got to be satisfying though knowing you didn't give up and settle for less than your vision. Frank
Can that car actually be as low as it looks? Did your back get sore leaning over to work on the roof? How about posting a side view (if you can get down that low).
Yah got the motor back in and fired yesterday. I need to work on the tune, the new cam changed it quit a bit. Hopefully tomorrow I can drive it a little. Here's a side shot
Its a shame that the magazines only cater to a few shops and rich people to do features. There is alot more talent and ingenuity on here that would make far better reading. Great job, lets see some pictures of the A.
umh..... a LONG time. Its hard to say I have worked on it in spurts here and there then put it away for a month. Probably over 100 hours total. for those of you interested in seeing more of the car http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153028
Did a shoot with the car about a year ago but it has yet to come out? Now with the roof done and the fuel injection done I think is worthy of some coverage... but I am a little biased!
That is so neat, you use to see hand tooled leather in old hot rods here and there in the old magazines , but doing the roof insert, I'm betting you are the first to do it. A damn good idea, everybodys gonna smile at that!
