Man, that sounds like a show I'd LOVE to see. Never got to meet Ed, lots of influence from him in my life, and been lucky enough to meet a lot of people who were close to him.
It is a great, great car show, all kinds of stuff from kids to 92. But at $120 per for just Sunday Concours general admission, this event is getting a tad rich for my retired Navy blood. This might be my last year for awhile. I guess their going to work their way up to the Pebble Beach cost level and shut most folks out. FYI, a forecast storm has moved the show up a day, to this Saturday, just in case you haven't heard yet. Gary
there were 17 Roth creations at the detroit autorama back in 2006. Ed was the featured builder that year.
I'll admit as the son of a car guy growing up in the 80's, I didn't really get Ed Roth and his style. But I get it now. I took a while for my tastes to refine, perhaps.
Mark, how many Roth cars did Larry have at his show in Pontiac, IL? That show was awesome.... and no one went.
Back in the late 70's I remember seeing some of the 'weirder (is that possible) cars Roth had built in the Harrah's Collection. They had pulled them out after Bill, I lived local and made many trips to the collection and never seen a Roth vehicle in real life. They were more art than 'real' vehicles, which was ok. Oh and Amelia Island?? Jive-Bomber, you suck! (with a jealous accent).
I think there were a half dozen there,Larry puts on great shows, but can't seem to make any money doing it
ya know, I’d like to think that Roth’s best work is the young men to my left in the photo below. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

Cool stuff, Roth's creations shaped (distorted) my young mind. At no point will I ever pay $120 per person to go look at other peoples cars. Yep, that fee keeps out the riff-raff like me alright.
Here's a couple of @Jive-Bomber's pics of the "Rat Fink Award" winners last Saturday at Amelia Island:

Hemi32 - Thanks for posting up the photos! The only suit that should be worn in the Surfite would be a bathing suit. Really. That dude in with the tie looks absurd in there..
