what the hell are these for? its a solid one piece casting. i know the later 409 impalas had what looks the same but the ''409'' was seperate from the flags. is this like an early emblem or aftermarket? the studs are threaded rather than casted.
...................................................................I HAVENT POSTED SINCE THEY REDID THIS SITE.... HOW THE HELL DOES ONE SIMPLY ADD PHOTOS FROM THERE COMPUTER...... IM NOT GONNA LIE THIS NEW DESIGN IS A CLUSTERF***

click "upload a file" and then upload the image file. not too difficult...unless the picture is too "big".

I click on it, and a little window pops up and lets me go hunting thru folders for an image file. Are you using a normal computer, or some kind of tablet or phone?

the post reply and more options buttons work but not the upload a file button. this is strange. you wouldnt think it would be a plugins issue would ya?

Another thing you can try, is the little picture of a picture, it's just to the right of the smiley face, in the toolbar at the top of the reply box (that I'm typing in right now). But it only works with images that are already on the internet, like on photobucket or something.

this stuff is kind of hard to figure out from long distance...

its just like the top and bottom pics but the ''409'' is in the same casting as the flags. and the studs are small threaded rods rather than casted pot metal

I have been having the same problem. I found you can use the drag and drop option to get around the problem. Start you post or reply and when you get ready to add photos find you photo in your computer and make that window small sized then click on the photo and hold the button down and pull the photo into the reply and let go. Look to the bottom opf your reply and watch is upload. when it is finished click post in full size and submit your reply.

I will ask in the tech section if there is a problem on the hamb about this.

See this thread more people having this problem : http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/photo-posting.946048/

I think the one piece 409 and flags emblem was used on the 63-64 chrome 2x4 air cleaner lid. Could be wrong.

Introduced in late 1961, the 409 option had no emblems on that car. The 62-63 409s had fender mounted castings but each was different. The 62 409 had the emblem located on the front of the fender ahead of the wheel well with the 409 mounted underneath the Impala flags. The 63 had the emblem relocated to behind the front wheel well and the 409 was placed on top of the Impala flags. Also the 409/425 HP engine with the dual fours had the chrome air cleaner with the same 409 emblem as it appeared on the fenders. (I have a 62 and a 63). In 64 the emblem got smaller as in the one on the rusty fender shown and continued in 65, the last year for the 409 engine

Look like emblems someone cast, not anything made by GM.

GM emblems did not have threaded studs so yours are probably repops and look like the 64 65 emblems.

Moonglow2, your post about 63 Chevy's having the flags and 409 emblems on the fender aft of the front wheel is correct for Impala's and SS cars but incorrect for the Biscayne and BelAir as those flags and 409 emblems were in front of the front wheels like the 62's. Go to http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/chevrolet...
My 63 BelAir in my avatar has the flags in the correct location.

Point taken Gmanoo6. I just never saw that many Bel Air and Biscayne 409s. Thanks for the input.

63 Impala flags and numbers moved back because of the Impala only front fender trim. No such trim on the other two big cars, so the flags and numbers were on the front.

Actually, the top and bottom ones are pictures of 1964 emblems, which are pretty much the same the 1965s. Not that it makes much difference.

I came across this old post, wanted to add my two cents. The passenger block I bought in 1977 we pulled out of a 64 2D 340hp PG. It had these emblems on the fenders. One owner car now a widow, was in Bishops Salvage in Denton TX because the 4Jet caught fire, they said they'd had it about a year. I paid $125 for the motor., plus got to keep the fender emblems. I still have them, going on my 65 Chevy II with a 409.
