How cool is that!!...Surely someone in the Hazel Park, Michigan area can ID that.....I love a good mystery.........Don.
Need more context. Where was it found? I know an old dragster racer that claims to have known most anybody that put on a suit back in the 60’s. A lot of those guys are still around and keep in touch with each other.
I know nothing of the history of these things...I sure hope they weren't ever woven with asbestos in the construction...it certainly deserves a proper archiving...quite the time capsule...I wonder if those goggles are just deteriorated or scorched in action...
Where it was found may help - Bob's Drag Chutes were pretty popular not only in Midwest but East as well. Going with the Michigan assumption I think I recall seeing a pic of Connie Kalitta with a Bob's firesuit, Chuck Kurzawa (Logghe Stamping) had a Bob's sponsored fueler. Kalitta with similar goggles:
I have the Bob's Drag Chutes seat belt (5 pt. harness) around here somewhere to match those. They were in a '71Chevelle stock car I used to run at (WI) Dells Motor Speedway. Just haven't gotten around to selling them. Obviously, not up to date anymore.
The mold on those goggles would probably make you go blind. (as opposed to that other "thing" that may make you go blind)
