In the event should you need more room. Here's some threads about my low profile seat. I solved the problem of the stock seats being too thick, by using a flat plywood backing with a webbed center.

Thanks for the compliments, it really is encouraging to hear.

Did some more work on my tank today, ran around all over town looking for parts, buying fasteners (wrong ones), then going back for more. First few pics are the pickup tube and fuel "bung" I came up with. Made out of junk lying around.

This is just a 1-1/4" spacer with a 7/16" hole. I tapped 1/4" NPT, drilled a hole in the side and put in a piece of tubing.


Welded it up, added a 90-degree bend and a hold-down tab.


Here it is in place



And the outlet. It's on the bottom of the tank and will go directly to my pre-pump filter (I'm running a Carter P4070)



Also started installing my sending unit. I don't have a pic but I warped the top a bit even though I was being SUPER careful, cooling with air, etc. not a good way to finish the day but I think it can be muscled into shape when I finish weld it.

Got a little more done. This is my first attempt at building a fuel tank, it's a pain. Much respect to those of you who do it well or make it look easy.

I made a little tunnel for my driveline, mostly it's for the yoke. There's unladen clearance but with weight (fuel, bed load, etc.) I think it would have hit. I bent some leftover 16ga over a pipe and iterated the profile until it fit.


Gotta love plasma cutters


Put the panel in from the bottom and welded from the inside


Then welded the underside; I don't wan this thing to leak!


And finally back in position


So I'm a little tired of fuel tanks, plus I need to figure out my fuel neck before welding it all together, so I thought I'd start on my exhaust. Made a tiny bit of progress on that. I think I'll like this task much more

Welded up my headers today. They came out ok, not too bad for a desk jockey with a mig welder








Dumping the primaries straight into the cone is illegal, so there was lots of tube fitting. Lots of work but was fun.

Some of you may have seen my "How horrible are these?" Thread where I asked opinions on some (admittedly hideous) tractor seats. My motivation included knowing space is limited, but I was and still am convinced that a bench seat is best.

I picked up this seat from the pick-n-pull on Saturday, worked on my F100 and hung around with family. Pesky life things are getting in the way


And good news! It fits great! But I don't!

I will need something literally on the ground and back wall.

Sunday I welded up my fuel tank. I think it turned out pretty well, still need to leak test it.





Here's the driveline clearance.


The fuel fitting which will go directly into my pre-pump filter.


I took apart my heater so I can sandblast it. Picked up some VHT paint for my headers, got an ignition switch, starter button and some other small parts. Will try to post some more updates later.

MG bucket seats might work well. I had no luck finding a low profile bench seat for my 34 truck.

Thanks guys. Small update; I was out of town part of the week so I'm trying to get back at it.

Pulled it outside for the first time since last fall.




I think the grille is about 3/4" too high

Painted my headers with VHT black. Looks almost maroon though, maybe because I used their white primer?


And started modifying my minivan seat frame.


Going to just do an upholstered seat back and bottom insert. Got to make it low so I can fit

well well well. We were neck and neck with our builds until you finished the floor amd are installing a seat! I will catch up soon... looks good. Keep up the great work!

 

I managed to get a little done on my seat frame tonight.

Here's what I started with (from earlier post):


It's a regular old minivan 2nd row seat frame. The width was ok, but I wanted it to follow the taper of the body and match the seat "riser", including my bump-out for the shifter and trans cover.

I cut the front part off, pinched the sides and made a new front part that matched the profile.


Also added flanged holes because, well, they're cool.



I'm tired of the seat, so tomorrow I might work on the parking brake and/or radiator strut rods. I have a big list to choose from

Got some done this morning. Worked on the parking brake handle.

I started with my original assembly; I took it apart, cleaned it and replaced the detent spring. Next I made a mount that bolts to the frame.

Bolted up.


And put the cover back on, made a hole for the boot.


Off to the hardware store, going to make some strut rods...

New toy. I hope I can make it work. It came with three un-stuck and one stuck 2GC's (for parts). I've also got the original 2GC on my 265.



It also came with new extended throttle shafts and progressive linkage. The intake is a little rougher than I thought in the coolant-port area, hopefully won't leak. Its too soon to tell if I have remorse.

This will be my first attempt to convert "non tri-power" carbs. I've read there are thick throttle plates, modified base plates, etc. but I will try to make it work without any of those kits.

Here's my plan for the seat frame.



I moved the cross bar up above the original wood brace. The seat frame itself will take over this function. I moved it up because any lower and it crushes my spine.

So the seat back cushion and bottom cushion will literally sit against the back wall and floor, respectively. It's the only way I can fit and operate the pedals. My goal is to finish the frame by the end of the week so I can take I to the upholstery shop. I want to know exactly where I will be positioned before I commit to the chop.

Sorry if these updates are small and boring, it's good therapy for me

Small update. I think I'm finished with my seat frame. I made some brackets for the back that bolt to the body, and follow the profile. The cushion will be formed so that it fits inside the frame and conforms to the shape of the body.



Ignore the ugly cushion, it's temporary.

Also got my new steering wheel. I'll hit the junkyard tomorrow for a stub off a GM.


Working on the battery box for the rest of the day.
