I started this project almost 2 years ago. The truck was origionally a 28 Willys Whippet Sedan that was shortened into a 5 window extended cab truck. The further I got into the project the quicker I realized the metal work was beyond my knowledge and skill. I hired a guy that does this for a living, we agreed on a price and a time frame and it seems like he has lost interest in working on my truck.

I am trying to find someone that will finish off the cab, and get it ready for final body work and paint.

Here are some photos of its current state

And this is a list of what still needs to be done, as far as I can tell.

Side rear windows: not quite the same size
Rear window: is over to the left about 2 inches, it was like that when I got it
Top corners: needs finishing as well as the roof skin.
    Floor: all of it.

So if you are a fabricator that wants to make a little extra money on the side or you know somebody that can help please let me know.

    Thanks
    Jeremiah

Give Matt Seret in Vallejo a call at 707-363-2841.

He is a very talented metal guy.

    It's a good start!
You may be a lot farther ahead by purchasing a mig and finish a lot of the welding yourself though...

But, you'd be surprised what you can shape using a tree stump, 2x4's, your left knee and a rubber mallet!(at least that's what I used!)

Remember alot of old cars and trucks had alot of curved panels, hoods. fenders, etc., just have to look beyond what is in front of you when looking for panels with shape.

Look at the roof section. It's the hood of a 66 Chevelle

Matts a cool dude. I don't know what his rate is. Frank DeRosa is only $50.00 an hour.

  11. You already got "somebody cheaper" and he built you a dumpster!?! WTF? Your avatar has nice lines, this guy must have learned from Helen Keller.

Dive into it yourself, you can do better AND learn in the process!:)

I didn't start this thread to bash the guy that has been working on it for me. He has brought it a long way from the way it was when it came home. I'm just looking for somebody up here that can finish her for me that won't charge me a shit ton of money.

I know there is alot of talent in my neck of the woods unfortunately I don't know any of them so I turned to the HAMB to steer me in the right direction.

There is lots of talent here in our area. Its just trying to find one that wants to take on a project like yours for a decent price is the problem. I am having the same issue with my Pontiac.

A good point brought up earlier here. Who ever you find needs to be able to fabricate panels. Not just weld on pieces cut from something else, that look kinda' close. No offense, but the car is drifting away from the drawing in your avatar. It still looks fine, but it's looking like a different car then your drawing. To me anyway.:)

When you only have "NorCal" as your location, you need to narrow it down a bit...

    There's Matt Seret(mentioned already)
Notch(Top Notch Kustoms) He's in San Jose and a HAMB member
Johnnykck(Kool Cat Kustoms) also in San Jose and HAMB
    SkotyChops(Redwood City) HAMB
    Chuckles Garage(Santa Rosa) HAMB

Do I need to keep going??

Im in Santa Rosa, I have heard alot about chuckles garage I should stop in sometime.
The avatar is a drawing from Hod Rod magazine of a concept model A,
That drawing is what inspired the previous owner to chop the living crap out of a really nice sedan.

My truck is a Willys lines are different and the doors are much longer. I will get in touch with Kool cat kustoms I like his work. I havent seen anything that chuckles has done, but I will look into it.

The avatar was the inital inspiration for the project, I have taken it a somewhat different direction. Here is a photo of the last time I fit the body to the frame.
