Here's something that is simple to make utilizing 2"x3" tubing. A flathead motor mount biscuit fits in it just fine.
my hurst style mount for 8ba and car pumps,, ] yes the bolts are in wrongside up, for some reason it was easier to put them in that way for the mockup.
Here's how I put a 215 Olds into my Model A. The crossmember has a slight V to clear the pan and the boxing plates have bolts welded to the back.
do you have any more pictures? Im doing the same with my 29 pickup and would love to know what steering and trans you used as well
Rather than modify a Hurst style front mount to allow low mounted OT accessories I used 7/16" plate to move both mounts slightly to the rear due to twin dump Fentons. I also added a full length 7/16" x 7/16" reinforcing bar across the back of the plate to stop any deformation. In OEM position the exhausts dump directly onto engine tube so I had to use some lateral thinking. I also had to widen engine tube to compensate for additional width and machine a recess into plates to clear raised pads on rear of mounts.
Hello, Just about everything was custom machined by builder/designer, Atts Ono. The Willys was well documented in Popular Hot Rodding and was a show quality drag race car. We were fortunate enough to have him as a friend and part of our build/crew during our own 40 Willys race days. His beautiful, red Willys was finished in 1964. Thanks, Jnaki
Some pics in my build thread. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/yet-another-vicky-project.395833/ Olds didn't stay in the car but had a Turbo 350 with an adapter. Steering box and column is 1953-56 F100. All about the same but 1956 steering shaft is around 1 3/4" shorter due to the dished steering wheel.
Hey Denny what is that rod going down from the head maybe the alt belt tightner ? Nice tube mounts and plating shows a touch of class too DND
Thanks DND, yes, it's part of the belt tensioning system. I had quite a lot of suspension pieces and other components nickel plated. More homebrewed stuff
