Here is a link to a great site they have a thread called “forever thread “ -not cheap but nothing is nowadays.. also a great source for tools and materials. the pattern making material is real nice too . also lots of how too videos mostly for boats but I’m sure great tips can be found https://www.sailrite.com/
Ok this one is staying. Stitches are all same length and not many wrinkles. Making the pattern I noticed the bottom corners were a bit different radius. Mad it a bit tough to make the slim pleats look straight but maybe I’m over thinking again.
Looks good to me,my son wanted white too. So I did his T-bucket seat an all in white! He helped. You have better sewing machine then I use,but there my be some tips in my old tech notes on HAMB ,I did some years back,if you had not seen it! https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/tech-sew-at-home-upholsrety-hot-rod.604077/
Interesting that I see guys are doing their trim panels and sending the seats out. The first thing I did was the seat with relatively cheap material to see if it was something I could do. The back and bottom are different colors as I bought remnants from the upholstery supply. Got some lumps at the top, next time I'll know better.
This KWIK top after altering it to the chop ain’t worth a chit now! Anyway on my way to make a Chitty Top! It’s on its way to the dumpster most likely but I’m gonna give it an old college go!
Real chitty upholstery, cheap marine vinyl attached to plywood with screws, blanket over the seat. I like it just fine.
Hang in there man. We are at the same place. We are struggling right along with you. These things are eating our lunch.
@dsiddons, thats a good looking seat, keep going. Use vintage looking materials, if you F it up, use it anyway. "It's vintage upholstery came with the car"
The difference between an amateur and an expert in almost any field is the ability to make it look like the end result was intentional. It takes time to learn, but once you can make it look like the mistakes were intentional you can get away with just about anything.
