I closest local is Stan Back's 1953 Plymouth Savoy with an early hemi power plant,,, I am sure he will pipe-in and tell me I am all wrong,,,,,,,
@xxwelderxx had his up for sale https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/project-1953-plymouth-2dr-hardtop-chopped.1088416/ in 2017.
Tony – You're not all wrong – it is a (54 Plaza) Plymouth. I'm proud of it, but it's no way near that icon.
My friend, Kenny, has a 53 that I began work on, and has continued now on his own. Not a clone, but some similarities. Chopped, a sedan, not a hardtop, Lincoln tails. But Ken is putting his own style to it now. Scooped quarters, hand made Packard grill (not the one shown here, he made one out of sheet metal, that is 2 teeth longer), pancaked hood, etc .
If Bob Hirohata had taken one to barris shop, and told them to do it up for Motorama, and money was not an issue...well things might be different today in regards to best car to customize...my .02.
Here it is with the new, hand made (except for the teeth) grill. Amazing piece of workmanship! The wider grill looks so much better.
