Actually, the front suspension was '50 Ford, like the frame. It was modified, but not much, kinda like the one in the Museum car...
A friend of mine, Al Bradshaw, worked for Ak Miller in the 50's to early 60's. One of their customers was Dr Nathan Ostich. They put together the Flying Caduceus for the land speed record. There was a article on it in Hot Rod in 60. Al went on to work for Chrysler and was involved with the loaner Chrysler Turbine cars.
There's an old video called "Gathering Speed" where Ak Miller is one of the commentator/historians that talk of the early days of land speed racing, hot rodding and a bit of drag racing, it's a really good video for watching and learning.
