For the fronts I purchased a kit. I used the original axle bolts instead of the ones provided in the kit. I purchased the kit from Joe’s Antique Auto https://www.joesantiqueauto.com The kit was a bolt on with some minor adjustments.

I had to grind the corner of the bracket for clearance.

Here is a copy of the original kit instructions 1950’s.

I could not find a kit for 36 original rear end, so I made brackets out of 1/4” steel plate and welded them up. I then had the wishbones drilled. I used shocks from SoCal speed shop and drilled holes in the crossmember for standard shock mounting bolts.

47/48 used tube shocks,so if you can get parts from one,it is a bolt up by drilling a few hole, but only works with cross steer. 48 had best front shock hook up for base of shock, out near brake on axle, was a hole in axle close to kingpin=better shock control vs inboard more.

Joes Antique and C&G carry our bolt on rear shock kit for the 35/36 with the original rear suspension. It is also available directly from us.

I purchased the shocks from SoCal Speed shop. I think I used the short shocks but check your travel distances.
Also I had to adjust the cross member to get clearance. If I used non covered shocks I would not have had to modify the frame.

There is more detailed information on the Ford Barn Forum. The post is titled “1936 Ford Rear Tube Shocks Conversion.” I started the post a couple years ago and received my inspiration for doing my conversion.

    Good luck!
