our friend rich billings from portage indiana passed today. it was his job to get his last build on the hamb so the friends he made on here could see it .and if they had questions he was more than happy to give the answers. he had been sick for quite a few years, but if he could come up with the energy to work on that coupe, he was headed out to finish it. rich was the craftsman. he could do it all with metal. if he didnt have the tool, he would make the tool. no problem. we lost a good friend. he built a body for me ,for a dragster project, a few years back, and i still have not finished. now i hate to say i have a reason to finish it. to put richs name on it. im glad he got the coupe done for his son. and i hope he drives the wheels off it for rich. going to miss ya bud. finish your projects, its good for your family and friends. i will post info when i get it about the service.

I agree. Sorry for the loss. I have already told my family that I will do my best to finish all of the vehicles and get rid of the excess parts so all my boys have to do is care for them and split up my tools. Regards, Randy

  8. Dammit, Rich was a great guy and one hell of a craftsman. We met through this site, it turned out we only lived a few miles apart. He was very helpful. I wish I had stopped by more often:(

I haven't been here all that long but his build thead has been on my watched threads list from early on.

This thread makes me think of a friend of mine who for 33 years was a mentor until his passing in 2014.
Some of the best people I have ever met have been over the heat of a radiator.......

Clearly he was a talented builder, that A coupe looks great, and from the comments here he was a friend to and helped many over the years.
Always tough to lose a good friend Rich, and it’s small consolation but your memories will keep you going.
    Godspeed Rich Billings.

Sadly, it just seems like there are more and more of these true craftsmen leaving us. . That's a lot of knowledge lost forever. Sorry to hear that news.

That’s sad to hear, I followed the building of his coupe and I loved his detail and skill.

That grey coupe is a beautiful car.

I also enjoyed reading his posts on his build thread.

    Rip Rich, you’ll be missed.

Talked with him a few times about his latest build. Seemed like a great guy to know and his Craftsmanship pretty much speaks for itself. That Model A is certainly Special! Farewell, Rich
