@LBCD post a pic of your spotless ride accompanying the Art in your post that understandably generates a vision that encourages one to create such a work and thank you for sharing this...;)

Can others see were parts of my own ideas came from, added to many of my own, when I built my bobtail "A" in 1959 to drive to high school in 1960.? NormBest T.jpeg rearView1.jpg I added older pic from early 60s when I was rebuilding "Y"again. Try too match views! I trashed the roll bar long ago ,after last pic, seemed like good idea at first, but didn't work out.

So Dana Your inspiration was seeing the real deal and perhaps some magazine coverage and heck it was even on the Tube...and you gathered the pieces and built, stood back, look, adjust, build...Awesome

Some similarities I note are The Header Pipes especially from the block out and down, Headlight placement and height of grille, angle of body...I'm having a bit of a chuckle here remembering your thoughts on the Older bigger Headlights...about filling up the Garbage cans with them where they belong...:D...and looking at your taillights...and thinking how did they escape the same fate...Those are old suckers. What year are those...they look fantastic by the way, did they have glass reflectors inside...I'm sure pumping 12 volts and newer bulbs through them gets them noticed...

BobTail A......That's a Cool Name for your Build Style...:D That vintage Pic is awesome...That drag link is loooong...The Roll Bar looked great but I guess it was probably an awkward thing by the sound of it...Dana it truly is amazing you still have this Hotrod...

I suspect Model A/T Bucket Style Hotrod's are somewhat rare out there...where did you get the Idea to Bucketize an A @dana barlow?

    Thanks for sharing The Story...;)

I think this is the Match to the Burnett Artwork with the extra louvers either added inspiration or added later in it's career in Racing...Real Nice Machine...and they looked awesome minus all that protective bars and such but it must have been and was pretty dangerous...

Ya you ,got it pretty darn good for sure.
Some things are by design and others become design from what ya got or get.
In away back story can be fun.
As for "1910 Rayo Driving Lamp"gas tail lights*from my Grandads barn,I had before I was 12 years old ,just thought they were cool from first site, some things place there self. Tail lights are not headlights or in the airstream ,like big ugly headlights would be ,and didn't light at all with out a match in this case. Had to fab to 12volt ,now brake an park.

"Bob Tail A",happens when the only old car you find for free to build a hot rod with, had been badly crushed/crashed in the rear up too back of cockpit. Being a teen,I cut off what I could not fix, used the rest. Mocked it up,tell it looked right too me.
Rollbar seemed cool ,tell after dumping the clutch a number of times, the lump on the back of drivers head gets too hurting a lot.
Steering link got replaced a few times an steering box also, not all things work perfect first try.
Still driving it,it's a time machine. Hope a smile was had,by the fill in !

  24. In the 80's Artist Lance Sorchik. Took a photo of my 29 coupe at Nats East. Then he did this drawing from it. He used it for his page in the Rodder's Digest mag. I also used it as my avatar. 20170311_073843.jpg 135.jpg

I'm not a big clone fan but don't have a real issue with it if the original either doesn't exist anymore or has been bastardized to the point it doesn't resemble the original as we knew it.
Inspired version with a few personal touches is cool though. Yup it was inspired by that one but I still put my own twist on it. 36Cab's dads blue one is a perfect example of that. Heavily influenced but not a clone.

There is a guy who posts his photoshopped custom concepts for a lack of a better term on FB that does some designs that someone will probably eventually build. most are a tad OT for here but his ideas are top notch.

There's a lot of Historic Inspiration plus one's intuition to create, so yes the eyes will determine if what is floats the boat so to speak...

This thread is truly for all artists at all levels...I consider myself blessed with an artistic hand and mind.

It truly is what we revolve our lives around...created things...as I say these Vintage Mechanical Beasts are visually interesting and look great as what they are...Art...that Goes...

The twist here is the Subjects of the Art did or still Roll on Terra Firma...

Many here have created works of the same Subjects and that's okay too as everyone's hand is their own and that makes it more interesting...

Come on Artists this is your space to wow the crowd...I am amongst Hotrod Artist Royalty Here...;) This is open to all levels...

    The_Kid.jpg

...Grade 10 High Stogy's High School Drafting Folder...I had the Hotrod bug on already with that Streetrodder Magazine inspiration...The Kid...Oh yeah

I have been poking my nose as I often do...:D...through the Friday Art Shows for Subject Matter and surprisingly many were Locked Down......but also of interest was the number of pages in some...

Quality of content around here has always been amazing...

Thanks and post up your art...maybe the Canvas is only a Sticker or a T-Shirt or a Virtual Digital Canvas...Bring It On...;)

  30. { Stogy } I was a very young Hot Rodder when I first saw the KID. It was love at first sight! A couple old photos I took, and a sketch of it. Check the next post, as I did't have my sketch on my P. C. 1538.jpg 1532.jpg
