Sad to report that Mr.Harold G. Murphy of West Palm beach FL passed away yesterday. He was a well known craftsman and car builder who designed and built many custom cars over the years. He "saved" El Matador -restoring it after it was totally burned. A very good man.

Saw the names Murphy and the Striper in the custom mags a lot years ago. Always loved their work, and the rebirth of El Matador. RIP.

Besides the miraculous rebuilding of the Matador, they also built a LOT of very nice customs. RIP Harold!

My condolences. Knocking out the Matador restoration was a true gift for all to enjoy.
They did a lot of cars and were one of the shops back then that gets credit for moving the Custom car resurgence. All part of his legacy.

  12. ****Sigh***** Yet another of the greats has left us. A tip of the hat to one half of the team out of Florida that built some great sleds over the years.
My deepest condolences to Mr. Murphy's family and friends. Vaya con Dios..........E

Condolences to the Murphy Family and friend in Harold's passing...Certainly one of the movers and shakers that helped shape the movement and yeah the Matador certainly resonates the attention to detail and expertise people of this caliber must possess...may he rest in peace...

    Regards,

I realize this is a long shot, but anyone have an extra copy of the booklet/magazine shown in the picture? I now own the 51 that's pictured on that booklet. Would love to have a copy to go with the car. Thanks.
