got a 3-53 blower gave to me by a farmer. I know it's small. But would it work with a stock tolerance 350 with the correct cam? Something to putt around town. Never pushed passed 4,200 rpm. Not worried about power gains I would just like something different under the hood at local car shows and at the sonic on Saturday nights. Don't want to destroy my engine. I know zero on the subject. Learn me something today fellas.

The only 'aftermarket' superchargers based on the 53-series that I know are the Camden ones - only available today for Mazda engines - and the largest engine I remember them being set up for is the Ford Flathead V8. It's likely worth more to the Detroit Diesel crowd, the 3-53 is popular for automotive swaps.

It's from a Detroit diesel. Would it work on a small block Chevy? Of course I would need the nose and manifolds.

    A 6-71 blower was originally for 366 c.i. motor. This was for a 159 c.i. motor.

I can't see how it would do anything but choke the motor way down. You couldn't get enough air through it.

by the time you rebuild it and get the nose gear you will be better off buying a kit from dyers or someone else . the 4-71 is basically the smallest you want to run on a 300 Cid motor , the 3-53 is good on a smaller 4 banger or a large H-D

Thank you for all your help guys.

  7. It'll work, just speed it up about 2-1. It wakes 'em right up!
A bone stock tree-fidy will easily take about 4 lbs of boost.

    I have a 144" B&M on a 385" Chevy @ 3-1 overdriven, makes about 4-5 lbs boost.

One thing to think about is the bearings as they are oiled by engine oil. Some have been converted to sealed bearings but you can just run a pressure feed line and a return line. You might check with Dean Blowers.

So if I stay low with the revs you think it will hold? Water/methanol injection maybe? And thank you for bringing up the oiling issue. Had not even crossed my mind!

How about the original 250 that came out of the truck? I've seen it done but how in the world do they do it?

going to under drive them with pulley ratio so you don't need to do too much to the motor an they still look an sound great!! then when you have the money - do up the motor an change the pulley ratios - easy!

It's the second one. Just without the nose cone. Is that a 3-53?
