I've been interested in drag racing since I was a teen in the late 50's and early 60's. I bought the FED in the mid 80's for "$250 and a cold case of Pabst, delivered". The car was originally built in 1963 by Richard Erickson, "The Professor" Warren Johnson's cousin. I reconstructed the car to todays safety standards in 1995. Warren recognized the car at the 1995 NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minnesota and led me to the original builder. The car originally ran an injected Oldsmobile in A/D but was uncompetitive. Later the original builder converted it to an injected 300 cid Ford six cylinder and reportedly held a NHRA National Record for two years in D/D.
The car is powered by a blown injected 368 cid Chevrolet on alcohol and has ran 7.37 at 185.52 mph.
