When I was born, I was very, very young... I'm 46 now I grew up in the San Joaquin valleyMy father is a retired engineer so when the cars broke down he got the book out and went step by step doing minor and major repairs... he didn't trust mechanics because of miss-haps... I was right there over his shoulder. I remember him adjusting the valves on the '52 with the engine running and I was hooked! I must have been 3 or 4. His first cars had white-walls without hubcaps... He was a hot-rodder at heart but never had the money because he loved his priorities... family came first. I on the other hand am a tinkerer. I want to see how it works and maybe make it better and of course faster.
I started out modifying (heavily) a '66 VW Bug for the street. It was a perfect example of what a Gasser bug would be, 9,500 rpm bug engine, wheelies in all gears, glass nose and all! As well as a heartbreaker it was a tranny breaker!
