1932 Ford Roadster - History Wanted

Pat O'Brien car, Dubuque Slo-Poke Member early 1950's. EARLY HISTORY WANTED I've owned it since 1970, more than 1/2 it's life.

Birds eye view of mock up. Early Ardun heads from Roy Reed of Reed Bros./Neumeyer belly tank fame. Were first run in a boat, then a sprint car Davey Crockett drove out of Indiana. Also have the 10k Jones-Motorola tach and Harmon-Collins magneto from the belly tank.

As it sits today. The rolling chassis is serial #1 from Chassis Engineering 1970. Dick Smith fiberglass hardtop, one of 6 or 7 made from his mould. Hood sides, doors, and roll cage to be fabbed yet. Want to make some passes before putting it on the street.

Today nothing newer than '53 or so. Original Bell axle still has raised emblem on one end. I made the front V bar from a tapered tube spare tire carrier. Has a NOS 59A block and '37 Cad-Lasalle transmission.

Pic from Bob Willis. Noel Mauer coupe and O'Brien roadster. That kid has to be nearing retirement age now! Mauer & Willis built a beautiful FED that they still have.

Pix from Bill Wharton, Golden Hammer Body Shop, Hiawatha, Ia. At a tent show in Cedar Rapids in 1953 or 1954, note Bob Willis roadster in background with carbs higher than cowl. It was painted Nash Anniversary Gold, Z'ed frame, chrome Bell tube axle, '40 brakes, built flathead, 2X2's, high compression heads, and firewall mounted battery. It has a unique nerf bar on bobbed horns, filled and peaked shell, louvered one piece hood top, w/s laid back, 10 convex S-W gauges, black tuck & roll interior with yellow piping, removable roll bar, rounded lower decklid corners, and '38 tailights.
