This neat old Hot Rod had been sitting in a state of disrepair since the early 80's. From what little history I could find, it was built about 1970. I've went out of my way to repair and rebuild any of the original speed equipment that was used. Anything that was missing, or needed replacement, 1970 era parts were used to keep it as authentic as possible. I was unable to salvage the 301 that was installed and now it's running a '62 327 short block, with '65 heads converted to 2.02 intakes. The cam is an NOS Crower solid grind. The Holley 780 sits on top of an Edelbrock C4B. Jardine headers and glass packs round out the exhaust system. No alternator here, it has the original generator. Manual steering and stock drum brakes too. Behind the Lakewood bellhousing you'll see the '65 M20 Muncie. The shifter is an early 60's Hurst item from an unknown model. The rear end is a '57 Pontiac running 5:13 gears with some home made slapper bars. The front wheels are 15X4 US mags, with Dunlop tires, on the back you'll see the '60 Olds wheels and H70x15 tires. The body has some filler, and some rust spots in the passenger floor that were repaired with fiberglass. There are a few shallow dents in the roof where something my have been stacked on it at one time while it was stored. The trunk floor and tail panel are original and solid. The front end, doors, and deck lid are all original Kellison glass parts there were installed on the car in the early 70's. As with all fiberglass parts they get wavy with age and the fit is about what you might expect. I sanded off the gold and red metalflake, and it's currently in "Crimson Mist" primer. It has a dull sheen that looks good without drawing attention the the little imperfections here and there. The rear quarter windows are fixed (as they were before), the fronts are also plexiglass and raise and lower with a strap. I did put the vent windows back in, instead of the one piece door windows it had. The rear window, windshield and vent windows are original. Inside, It has just the essentials: Gauges and a Tach Turn signals Brake lights Head lights, tail lights and parking lights There is no speedometer, heater or windshield wipers. The original radio is there, but I've never been able to get more than a hum out of it (I use an old transistor radio hung from the mirror if I feel the need) Remarkably, the clock does work. It's not a flashy show car with a lot of chrome and perfect paint, but it's blast to drive.
