How much more power did this set up make?

 

Killer. Any pics of it mounted?

 

I don't know how much power it made, but he said it went like stink.

2" intakes, 1 5/8" exhaust.

Here is a photo of it mounted that I borrowed from Stovebolt.

 

Any specific year 455 head better for this use?

 

I don't know a lot of the details. If there are enough questions, I can compile a list and get him to answer them.

Interested in the cam details, who built it and of course specs.

I just love the Ford valve cover on a GM product head.

I just dropped a pair of 455 heads off at Herb's- you might just be able to fanagle one them off of him

Sorry again that I couldn't make it up to Hershey- hopefully our next trip north!


In regard to the 455 heads- there are lots of castings (A-J, if I remember correctly), with the J's being pretty much junk for the Olds guys (restrictive ports, etc)- when I asked George about them, he just said that he simply used what he found.

Do you guys know who stocks 32 to 34 original spring perch bolts? I wanted a 32 axel but finally had to settle for a 34 which should give me the same results, I am retaining the rebuilt rod brakes[Model A] but need the spring perch bolts to get them to work [Its a period thing] I have tried most of the suppliers who advertise them but advertising and having them is a very different thing. As I live in NZ it would be great to find someone who actually has them instead of wasting weeks chaseing false leads. any info please mp me thanks Rusty

 

We are both in the same boat Rusty, I have been looking for some for a year.
I don't know what people do with them when they remove the wishbone. Actually I need a 33-34 wishbone too.

 

Have you tried posting in the early V8 section of the Fordbarn? I get a bunch of stuff that way as long as I don't say Hot Rod.

 

What is your budget?
The LA Roadster Show swap is in a couple weeks, I can keep an eye out for some.
There are a couple of local sources I can check here in So Cal too.

I have had good results posting wants in the Barn or HAMB classifieds. I received several responses for 32 34 front axle and brake parts. Prices were reasonable.

 

Finally the little roadster gets to see the light of day ! Out of the hauler and into the shop to address a short list of 26 items , some small and easy, some not. But with a little help from my smart friends on the H.A.M.B....we shall overcome... Ron

The last few days finally feel like summer is here . I know only tooooo well what those polar blasts feel like and I don't know why the hell I live here. I ran out of the need for cold and snow when I was about 14. Thanks to Jimski and his coaching, the bugs should be worked out very soon and I hope to get some seat time in the little roadster. It was great working out in the shop today and drawing a nice bold red line through the items on the list that were taken care of ...

The problem I have guys is that people dont know what they are selling I have brought 2 sets of spring perchs only to find that they are for late model dropped or repro axles that dont have rod brakes so they dont have the piece to attach the brakes to. Being in NZ it is cheaper to scrap the part than return it transport duty red tape ect. Every time I get a bank draft even for 2cents it costs me $25 yes I have tried pay pal and yes my account got hacked legal fees ect . Crazydaddyo is trying to find me some and I am very very grateful thanks to all you guys on the HAMB for your help restorers hate me most normal hotrodders cant understand the joys of building a 40s style machine. HeHe feel like a restorer of vintage hotrods a very rare being it seems.
