Motion Pictures 1948 Dry Lakes Footage.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jimmy B, Oct 3, 2009.

  1. Last week I got a surprise parcel in the mail, Curt Giovanine had sent me a Cd with video. I played it and was totally blown away with the content. Curt had sat down with his dad Bob, sister, and brother-in-law in '96 with video camera recording an old 8mm home movie of the '25 roadster in '48. Curt said I could post this, so enjoy.
    Cheers
    Jimmy

:edit: These I got these on another dvd after the original post, Bob explains hopping up his Chev 4

  5. Jimmy, that's just an unbelievable piece of history. It leads me to think that there must be more film than those few seconds.
    Thanks for posting.

That is amazing!!!!!!!!!! Thanks a million for sharing that!!! I have a real thing for that little roadster that you're building (a real work of art by the way)...I'll bet it was a real treat to see "it" running!!! PRICELESS!!!

Jamie, you must be as pleased a punch to get that footage.

Its funny on my recent trip to the US, I finally got to meet me Inliners hero - so I kind of know what you are experiencing just now. :D:D

  14. Mark, ever since I first saw the roadster I've imagined how it looked like in colour and moving across the dry lakes. Getting that footage off Curt and watching it over & over and over is better than I ever could of imagined. Even though Bob, Chuck, Rufi & Duke are all passed now this is the closes thing to meeting them. I'm planning a trip to the US next year so I will hopefully meet Curt and thank him for sharing his dads photos, footage and info, as it has been invaluable in my build up.
    Cheers

Thanx 4 taking me back to what that time was like. That was very cool! My dad was 18 then, wish I could've been hanging with him and his buds going to the lakes.

That's Awesome!!! Pictures of that car are cool, But a color movie with narration by Bob himself is off the chart! Also, I didnt expect Bob Rufi's name to be pronounced like that.
