If it’s the same car it’s a shame.

    Rite...
That exhaust looks like a factory corvette unit, that was clearly a take off.. could be wrong... Original car was no joke!

I would have to say no. The red car looks like it has a one piece windshield. Black car 2 piece. I could be wrong.

The black car has the fabric top insert. Can't tell from the pictures of the red version if the top has been filed or not, but that would be a clue.

Too bad all the history of Bonneville and it’s drag racing career have been destroyed. Those records don’t mean shit now.

  11. IMO somebody ruined a significant car from days gone by. IIRC that coupe was in Gene Scott's (rip) storage yard in the early 1970's.

Notice that the inner door skins were removed on the Millwinder's coupe. Ask if the doors inner panels were gutted out like the Millwinders race car. Could be fixed I guess. There would be evidence of that. But very hard to imagine that someone would chop matching new doors to the body.

To my Eye, the black car has a taller windshield.

The original car seems to have more of a chop.

  23. I think that is it. Pretty sure we had a thread on it years ago. If I get a quiet moment at the office I will do a search for the thread

Your right I’m thinking it was in the 34 instead of the 36

That scoop over the cowl vent got my attention. A buddy had a '36 with a scoop like that. Not a good idea in Oregon rain. I dug out the old photo albums, 1979. 20220530_213930.jpg 20220530_213800.jpg 20220530_213837.jpg 20220530_213713.jpg 20220530_213733.jpg This is what I found. Headed to Sandblast at Arizona Beach, at Silver Creek Falls Run and at Reflections Rod Run.

a lot can be changed over the course of 50 - 70 years…..modified by different owners…….

when I got my coupe body, we were initially convinced that it was this car, similar caravan windshield, raised rear guards, radiused rear quarters, exactly the same chop, filled cowl, no original firewall, etc, etc….

Only about 24 surviving 5 windows in NZ at that time, some still not chopped, some never been channeled.

then when we analysed a rear view photo, we realised that the chop on this one leaned slightly one way, and the chop on mine leaned the other way………
