Haha, I bet he really wanted you to print them, put them in an envelope, stick a postage stamp on it and mail it to him... I bet he is standing by the mailbox as we speak...
Being a card carrying member of the septuagenarian group I am just a little bit more tech savvy than your friend Nils, but I'm sure he wanted you to drop everything and BRING him the photo's now. I haven't assembled a model car kit in more than 50 years but as a kid that's the only way I could get the satisfaction of building something with my own two hand. It's great to see the cool art that made the kit's so appealing, it still does to this day, I've had a falcon pickup truck model on the shelf for many years, it might be time to breath the fumes of model cement again and put that truck together. I for one am loving the photo dump. I have a few older kits in boxes still. Ill have to wade through the mess that is my basement to find the boxes. at swap meets im always keeping an eye out for vintage plastics to play with
This is the only box I have that has survived . I don't know when I bought it but the price tag can give you some reference. Bill
great story, and pics - brings back memories as a kid building so many models - worst part is that as I got a little older grew out of building models I used firecrackers to blow most all of them up - lived in Hawaii at the time, and powerful fireworks were readily available
A 62 Buick kit that I just built it last week. It's been waiting for almost 60 years. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I like that you aren't scared to build the old kits. Most guys would think they are too rare and just keep them unbuilt in the box. The diorama display rooms you keep each kit in are cool too.
I will never again build a model car because I know for a fact that I would fall straight down that rabbit hole and never come up.
@Ryan I like the photoshopped Telstar box art. Do you know if Jim did that or someone else on his behalf
Not too good with this phone. Sorry. An AMT 36 Ford. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I have no idea... All the images in that directory were stolen off the HAMB over the years... I took no notes on them. - just grabbed stuff as I liked it kind of deal...
