Thinking about starting another project. Thought about doing something simple like a T Bucket. However would like something that you sit in and not on. Most T Buckets you sit very upright with the upper body nearly from the waist up exposed. Would like something where only the shoulder exposed. Really do like the Lakes Modifed look.

I’m okay with Fiberglass bodies but at my age with bad knees the car has to have doors. I’m aware of the Zipper bodies and frames which I like. I did a search here and found several threads about Lakes Modifed cars but most of the threads are from 2006 to 2010. However it seems that most of the manufacturers mentioned of these type bodies are no longer in business. Anyone know of any others?

Have also looked at some of the 27 T roadster bodies with doors. While bigger then the T Buckets most don’t fit the sitting in rather then on theme I’m looking for. I know many here don’t like the fiberglass idea but that seems the most practical at this time. Any ideas or new sources for these type bodies.

While expensive, I'm building my 2nd lakester using a Brookville 32 rpu body, more room and I sit in it not on it. I sold the first one and last I knew it had over 40,000 miles on it?

I am building a 26 modified also, here are some photos of modifieds to show that they can be roomy enough if you plan ahead. Sorry for the double photos. I have a Class Glass '27 roadster out of Maryland. It is the 3" wider than stock model. It is 6 years old now and I have no complaints. It has opening doors on both sides. I bought it with floor installed, doors and deck lid hinged. I have homemade bomber seats sitting on the floor and laid back to a comfortable position. I am 5'-9". The top of the door hits me right at the armpit. Perfect for resting your arm on and grabbing the steering wheel. I sit in it, not on it. It is comfortable to drive, but if you are any taller than I am, it gonna get crowded pretty quick.
I don't have any pic's with me in it. I only have pic's that I took. It's kinda OT, so you only get a side shot. IMG_1315 (2).JPG IMG_1319 (2).JPG

What you see in the add is all I know about it but this guy on Ebay has a Lakes modified glass 27 body for what looks like a doable price.

I really like the low stance of your car is that a home built frame or from a manufacturer. How much “Z” is in the front?

9" in front. 14" in rear.
    Oh yeah, it is homebuilt.

Did you build the frame? What rear end are you using? Any pictures of just the frame without the body? Thanks!

Yes, I built the frame in my shop. This is fresh from powdercoat. The rearend is a Frankland Quickchange. The donor car for this build was my retired late model dirt car. That's why the W5's. The OT portion of the car is that it is coilover on all 4 corners. It is a slot car.

This is the QC. And I found this pic of my old ass sitting in it during the build. Probably going "Vrooom, Vroom" and shifting gears!

Wow! What a great looking frame and completed build. Very nice! The wide fives look really cool. Whole cars looks very well thought out.

Speedway Motors still sell T roadster bodies. 23, 26-27.

  18. This started out as a model A Tudor that was missing the top and the doors. It is almost the same dimensions as the brookville 30/31 extended cab rpu

Don, I hadn't seen the supercharged version, any idea when this was taken? Early 50's? Some of those cars look familiar in the background.

  20. ....Sorry oj, I don't have any other details, just stumbled on this image on the 'net. Looks like this picture may have appeared in Hop Up in 2004.
