This 300HP Thunderbird was campaigned by Parsons & Edmonds of Newark, Ohio. Both were good friends of mine and both have passed away. The car was a record holder and competed at the Worlds Finals. I do not recall the year. Both Gail Parsons and Dave Edmonds were longtime drag racers in central Ohio.

The Studebaker is pretty cool; 120 HP!!! Anyone know what the Rube Goldberg reference is all about? The 61 Chevrolet wagon looks like a PNW car, judging by the scenery and "Exhaust Specialties" sponsorship (they were big here at one time). I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

tommyd: Thanks for posting this picture. I knew this car when it was campaigned and as a 16-year old, I used to "shuttle" the car to different tracks for the owner, Marvin Walker since he had 2 cars. How do I contact "Doug Boyce" noted on the picture? I want to see if he may have any pictures of another car of the same era.

    Thanks, -EM

Junior Stock was the post popular class the N.H.R.A.ever had in my mind.
Great racing action with super close races and it was an affordable class for many racers to race in.

Those day's are over forever. Today it takes deep pockets to play the game.
    Just my opinion.

Yep it made it possible for us normal (poor) family guys to drive in with our Daily Driver throw on the slicks, uncork the exhaust and compete against a lot of other guys in the same situation. The bucks up guys didn't run for trophys they ran in the "money class" and we had a good time racing against other guys just like us. And in the pits it was like family if someone, even your competition, had a problem there would be several people trying to help them out.
