I don't know if there will be any interest, but I figured this would be the place if there is...

I've had a few folks here over the past few years asking questions about rules for a specific year/era or asking for scans from specific rule books themselves, so I figured I'd finally get my rear in gear and start scanning some of this stuff. I'm gonna try and scan the rule books in order [unless someone asks specifically for something], but it's gonna take some time as they get lengthier each year. Being as I create websites on the side, I should probably think about creating one for this stuff...can anyone think of a jazzy url? :D

What I have: every NHRA rule book from 1958-present, a couple of original NHRA Classification Guides, the original NHRA Technical Manual from Maple Grove (thick 3 ring binder), an NHRA Operators Manual (thin 3 ring binder), and a bunch of other odds & ends like drag strip guides, division patches, '59 Nationals stuff, etc., with a couple AHRA items sprinkled in as well.

Anyway, if you need something specific, shoot me a pm or *preferably* an email [chevy454 at yenko.net].

Ok, I'm having trouble with the max file size on this site, so I'm throwing them up in my dropbox for now, follow the link below:

With all the talk about the NHRA these day's you just might have some very collectable items.

Ha! If I've got something, that means the bottom is gonna drop out of it, kinda like my baseball cards...

As of this afternoon, I have both 1958 books as well as 1959 and 1960 uploaded. [see original post to find the link]

Way cool, thanks for posting. Timing was just right, I'm just starting to restore a B/MR that raced at the Nats in 58, now I'll know I'm building it legal!

Did it do any good? I've got a '59 Nats (from the Dirty D!) program, and a lot of times they included pictures/results from the prior years...and I've got an NHRA annual of some kind from the mid-60s that has all of the previous Nats winners in it, iirc.

Thanks, 454! Downloaded and saved. I love this stuff. I'd like to get up to '70 or so.

Thanks a million buddy! I downloaded the '58 rules. The first year I got interested in
drag racing. You don't by any chance have '65-66 AHRA rules do you?

  16. wow....that was nice of you to do....thanks

One of our "honey pots", this one for mainly NHRA stuff...if you look close you can see the hole left from where I swiped the '58-'61 books to scan.

Thanks! My in-progress entry for the H.A.M.B. Plastic Model Builders dragster build-off will benefit from this. I had hoped to avoid including a shoulder harness and floor but, even in 1958, those were required.

They sure got a helluva lot bigger from '58 to '65. They had a lot of gaps to close, eh? ;)

Anyway, thanks again for taking the time to do this.

    Hey John!

Y'all should thank John Brown, he showed me his original classification guide probably a decade ago at the pure stock drags and that lit the fire for me to start collecting this stuff.

  29. Thank you so much. I've been doing research on members of a local car club who participated in drag races but I have minimal information on their cars. At least these will start to point me in the right direction in terms of what classes they may have raced in.
