The Pasadena Reliability Run is Back!

The Pasadena Reliability Run is Back!

After a long 14 year hiatus, the Pasadena Roadster Club hosted one heck of an event on Sunday. The storied hot rod club (established 1945) first hatched the idea of a reliability run in ’47 as a way to give the growing sport of hot rodding some good PR in the Southern California region, as jalopy jockeys were seen as a menace, racing on the streets and getting kids killed. The original PRC run lasted a scant 5 years before SCTA-organized drag races shifted hot rod’s focus, but in 2005 the club brought the idea of an organized reliability run back up, inviting traditional roadsters to participate, as they would have in the late 40s and early 50s. There must be something about 5 year runs, as the event ceased again after the 2010 showing that Ryan and I participated in. However, after what I experienced this past weekend, including 70 + killer cars (coupes & open cars up to 1940 were invited), miles of stunning roads and perfect weather, the PRC better keep this baby going WAY past another five years!!

Sorry I didn’t get any cars actually on the run- More coverage here
